COMMON FORMS: Basically the same as Tanque Verde Red-on-Brown

COMMON BACKGROUND COLORS: Brown, black, or both. Sometimes white slipped.

TEMPER: Usually Sand.

EXTERIOR TREATMENT: Polished

DESIGN PLACEMENT: Basically the same as Tanque Verde Red-on-Brown.

COMMON DESIGNS: Tanque Verde Polychrome usually has black painted designs counter balancing the red designs. Some examples have polychrome crosshatch designs. Usually the red lines were painted first in a diagonal hatched fashion, then opposing black diagonal hatch lines were painted across the red lines to create a polychrome crosshatch design. Black painted motifs found on Tanque Verde Polychrome are: lines, wavy lines, chevrons, dots, ticks, and rectilinear scrolls.

COMMENTS: Tanque Verde Polychrome it may be reguarded as the Classic Period continuation of Rio Rico Polychrome.
