DATE:  A.D. 1250 to 1660 (Rakita and Raymond, 2003;160)

COMMON DESIGNS: Usually simple, blocky designs with opposed red and black motifs, however some designs are fine and elaborate, possibly on later examples.

COMMON BACKGROUND COLOR(S): White.

KEY DIFFERENCES: Red and black designs on an all white slip, often bottoms non-slipped, occasionally rims not slipped.
