TYPE: Variant Hawikuh Polychrome 

DATE: AD 1630 to 1680+  (Lanmon & Harlow, 2008;73)

 

 

 

1N This variant Hawikuh Polychrome jar has a red slipped base and top and pinkish-orange

slipped body, with glaze and red designs painted on it.  Perhaps the description for Hawikuh Polychrome

should be expanded to include a pinkish-orange slip, however at this point in time it will remain a variant.

2N Anasazi Variant Hawikuh Polychrome Olla with a pinkish body slip.

3N Anasazi Variant Hawikuh Polychrome Bowl with designs painted on a pinkish-orange slip.

 

 

 

 

 

4N Variant Hawikuh Polychrome Bowl. This bowl is unusual in that it has areas of

solid red paint on top of the red slipped interior.

 

 

5Y Anasazi Hawikuh Polychrome Bowl

The exterior band and most of the interior of this vessel is not white

or buff slipped, rather it is simply polished clay.
