TYPE: Springerville Polychrome Variants

DATE: A.D. 1250 to 1300 (Carlson,1970;45)

 

 

1N Springerville Polychrome Variant Bowl.

The exterior of this bowl has black designs painted on a wide white band, the interior has designs in a band at the top, and a rather large human depiction in the bottom.

Approximate Dimensions: 12" or 30.5 cm. by 6 1/4" or 15.8 cm.

 

 

2Y Springerville Polychrome Variant Bowl.

This bowl has a thin white band and a wide white band (with black designs painted on the wide band) on the exterior. The interior has wide white bands (with black designs painted on them) in a zigzag pattern on the inner wall of the bowl. Approximate Dimensions: 5 3/8" by 2 5/8"

 

 

 

3N Springerville Polychrome Variant Bowl.

The exterior of this bowl has a large white band that has wide curvilinear red motifs in it. The curvilinear motifs and the wide band are outlined in thin black lines along with another thin

black line a the rim. The black exterior lines, as well as the late interior design,

lends itself likely to be a Springerville Polychrome variant.
