TYPE: Showlow Red DATE: A.D. 1000 to 1100? (Hays-Gilpin, 1998;154) KEY DIFFERENCES: Sherd temper. Watery-thin red slip on a soft paste. TEMPER: Finely ground sherd and quartz sand. VARIETIES: Non-smudged and smudged. COMMENTS: Showlow Red is simply a sherd tempered variety of Woodruff Red (Hays-Gilpin, 1998;152).
