TYPE: Showlow Polychrome

DATE: A.D. 1325 to 1400 (Carlson 1970,75)

BOWL DESIGN PLACEMENT: Primary interior designs, secondary exterior designs.

COMMON BACKGROUND COLORS: White interiors, orange to red exteriors.

COMMON DESIGNS: Exterior bowl designs are the same as found on

Fourmile Polychrome, however the interior black designs are painted on

a white slip instead of red.

KEY DIFFERENCES: Interiors of bowls have black designs painted on an all white slip, while exteriors are the same as Fourmile Polychrome. Jars have black designs painted on a white slip, however the bottoms are slipped red.
