TYPE: Safford Plain DATE: A.D. 1250 to 1450 (see comments) KEY DIFFERENCES: "Coil and scraped", highly polished, creamy looking. Usually tan color, often orange to red or brown. TEMPER: Fine to very fine quartz and/or gold or silver mica particles. COMMENTS: This type has not been formally recognized (new type). Dates are assumed to be the same as San Carlos Red-on-Brown as this type has reportedly been found in direct association with it. STYLES: Non-smudged Smudged Incised Incised and Fingernail Punched Coiled and Grooved Obliterated Corrugated
