TYPE: Safford Plain

DATE: A.D. 1250 to 1450 (see comments)

KEY DIFFERENCES: "Coil and scraped", highly polished, creamy looking. Usually tan color, often orange to red or brown.

TEMPER: Fine to very fine quartz and/or gold or silver mica particles.

COMMENTS: This type has not been formally recognized (new type). Dates are assumed to be the same as San Carlos Red-on-Brown as this type has reportedly been found in direct association with it.

This vessel was reportedly found in direct association with a San Carlos Red-on-Brown bowl.

Approximate Dimensions: 4 3/4" by 4 3/4"

Approximate Dimensions: 6 3/4" or 17 cm. by 5 1/8" or 13 cm.
