12Y San Lazaro Polychrome Putki. This interesting and rare piece was a mold for making new vessels. It was made from an upside down San Lazaro Glaze Polychrome olla top and a large bottom shard. The bottom shard was placed inside with a combination of wet ash and plaster applied to seal off the natural hole in the olla top, thereby making a base mold or "turn table". The ash and plaster layer allowed easy seperation of the new vessels without sticking to the mold or turntable. At San Lazaro Pueblo, Pukis were found that measured from 6 1/2" to 15 1/2" ind diameter. Approximate Dimensions: 13 1/2 " by 5"
