TYPE: Escondido Glaze Polychrome (Glaze E)

DATE: A.D. 1515 to 1650? (Oppelt,2002;16)

PRIMARY BOWL DESIGN PLACEMENT: Interiors, often with secondary exterior designs.

COMMON DESIGNS: Rim interiors usually have a wide red band outlined in glaze black paint. Exteriors may or may not have designs that are wide red motifs outlined with glaze black paint.

KEY DIFFERENCES: Shouldered bowls with long thickened and flattened rims that are somewhat rectangular in cross section.

BACKGROUND COLOR: White, tan, yellow, orange, or red.

SLIP OR SURFACE TREATMENT: Light slip.
