TYPE: San Clemente Glaze Polychrome (Glaze A)

DATE: A.D. 1315 to 1425 (Oppelt,2002;50)

BOWL DESIGN PLACEMENT: Primary interiors, secondary exteriors.

COMMON DESIGNS: Designs are the same as Agua Fria Glaze-on-Red and parallels the Zuni Ware, Kwakina Polychrome.

BACKGROUND COLOR: Bowl interios white to yellow, bowl and jar exteriors red.

KEY DIFFERENCES: Rims are usually the same thickness as the neck or body of the vessel. Bowls have a yellow to white sliped interior and a red slipped exterior. Ollas or jars have a red slipped bottom and usually a red slipped neck, with the body being slipped yellow to white. Glaze designs are painted on the yellow or white slipped area.  Sometimes red designs are incorporated into the primary designs.
