TYPE: Pinedale Black-on-Red DATE: A.D. 1275 to 1325 (Carlson, 1970;57) BOWL DESIGN PLACEMENT: Primary interior designs, secondary unit exterior designs common. COMMON DESIGNS: Designs are the same as found on Cibola Whiteware, Pinedale Black-on-White.
1N Large Pinedale Black-on-Red Olla with a very artistic design. Approximate Dimensions: 13" or 33 cm. by 11" or 28 cm.
2N Pinedale Black-on-Red bowl with an outstanding North American Prehistoric Mountain Lion or Jaguar depiction. Note the over-emphasized fangs on the cat. Approximate Dimensions: 7" by 17.7cm. by 3 1/8" or 8cm.
3Y Pinedale Black-on-Red effigy lug handled jar, probably representing a Pronghorn Antelope head. The large spots that look like eyes probably represent the black horns, and the black stripe on the bridge of the nose may represent the black patch of fur common on male Pronghorn Antelope. Approximate Dimensions: 4 1/4" or 11 cm. by 4" or 10 cm.
