TYPE: Medicine Polychrome

COMMON BACKGROUND COLORS: Primary designs on a red background, secondary designs on an orange background.

COMMON DESIGNS: Black-on-Red primary designs (that are the same as Medicine Black-on-Red) and secondary Red-on-Orange designs. The secondary design may be a simple broad red band.

KEY DIFFERENCES: Medicine Black-on-Red primary design, secondary Red-on-Orange design.

COMMENTS: This rare type has not been formally recognized (new type). Dates are assumed to be the same as Medicine Black-on-Red

 

1Y This jar has a Medicine Black-on-Red primary exterior design. The interior secondary

design has an open-ended band along the inner wall, similar to vessel #4 in the Dogoszhi Polychrome section of this series. Approximate Dimensions: 9 3/8" by 7"
