TYPE: Mata Red-on-Brown Textured PERIOD: Viejo DATE: A.D. 700 to 1250 (Rakita and Raymond, 2003;160) BOWL DESIGN PLACEMENT: Interiors and/or exteriors. COMMON DESIGNS: Thin diagonal or vertical lines pendant from a painted rim or band above or below texturing is common. Hatching, dots, usually small solids, and chevrons were some of the elements used. Rims are usually painted.
KEY DIFFERENCES: Complex thin and/or thick line designs with texturing on the neck or shoulder. Lines are not usually as broad as on Victoria Red-on-Brown and can be as thin or thinner than the other narrow line types.
