DATE:  A.D. 1250 to 1475 (Rakita and Raymond, 2003;160)

BOWL DESIGN PLACEMENT: Interiors, or exteriors, or both interiors and exteriors.

COMMON BACKGROUND COLOR(S): Bowls may have white interiors and red exteriors, or bowls and jars may have red, white, or both red and white exteriors.

KEY DIFFERENCES: Background colors and design layouts that resemble Salado Red Wares: Gila Polychrome, Cliff Polychrome, and Tonto Polychrome, however Casas motifs are often incorporated in the designs.

VARIETIES:

Design layouts that resemble Salado Gila Polychrome style (black-on-white, with red exteriors on bow or red bottoms on jars).

Design layouts that resemble SaladoTonto Polychrome style (black-on-white-on-red).

Approximate Dimensions: 8 1/2" by 8"

The red slipped inner rim  makes this vessel a polychrome,

however it is not done in the manner Escondida Polychrome is "normally" painted in that the bottom of this jar is not slipped red. The design is done in a very bold "Gila Style".
