TYPE: Chapin Gray

DATE: A.D. 575 to 900 (Oppelt 2002:9)

KEY DIFFERENCES: Temper usually protrudes thru vessel surfaces making them somewhat rough to the touch, some may be smooth though.

OTHER COMMON TYPES WITH SIMILAR CHARCTERISTICS:

Tusayan Gray Ware: Lino Gray but with rounded quartz temper

TEMPER: Usually dark. Igneous rock, like Andesite or Diorite, sandstone, occasionally micaceous particles, red Hematite.
