DOUGHNUT-SHAPED DIGGING-STICK WEIGHTS: LAVA RINGS: RING, CIRCULAR |
||||||
Circular Rings, Doughnut-Shaped Digging-Stick Weights, or Lava Rings are usually made out of Vesicular Basalt, Diorite, Sandstone, or other local stones. Speculation is that these rings were used at the end of a planting stick as a stop for uniform plantng depth for seeds. Others believe that these rings could also have been used as clubs when set on a handle. Rings usually measure approximately 3" in diamter and they contain a center hole that is approximately 5/8" to 1" in diameter. They are abraded smooth.
