TYPE: Point of Pines Polychrome DATE: A.D. 1400 to 1450 (Carlson, 1970;79) BOWL DESIGN PLACEMENT: Primary interior designs, secondary exterior designs. COMMON DESIGNS: Designs are like those found on Fourmile Polychrome, however they often are not quite as finely executed. TEMPER: Temper is usually angular fragments of lucite tuff, sand, and biotite. KEY DIFFERENCES: Sloppy designs compared to Fourmile Polychrome. Gold mica (biotite) often visible on surface. Occasionally Fourmile Polychrome will have very fine (pin head size) silver mica particles in the surface, however Point of Pines often has larger gold color flakes showing, but not always.
