DATE: A.D. 825 - 1300 + (see comments)

KEY DIFFERENCES: Dark gray to white in color, may or may not be slipped, may be hand smoothed or tool polished.

TEMPER: Sherd and/or sand

VARIETIES:

Non-slipped Gray

White Slipped

COMMENTS: Dates are based on Kiatuthlanna Black-on-White, the first decorated type painted on a polished smooth surface, thru the end of Tularosa Black-on-White. The author has personally found plain white or gray vessels in Red Mesa, Reserve, and Tularosa Black-on-White period rooms, on private land sites from Saint Johns to Sanders, Arizona.
