Mojave

Early Mojave pottery comes in many shapes and sizes. Documented vessels are bowls, round platters, oval platters, spoons, ladles, scoops (some with quail heads at the handle), bipointed trays for parching, cooking pots (some quite large at 18" to 24" high). Cooking pots also sat on three conical shaped supports made of pottery. An even larger pot, up to a yard in diameter, too big to cook in, was sometimes made to ferry small children across the river.
